Weddings...Fall...Dinners...and Details

I'm a very detail-loving photographer. Once i was told that I took too many pictures of the food. I admire food photographers for the life the give to the dinner table. Photographing food is my new favorite thing. There's nothing like sitting down to a wedding meal...it's almost like seeing the bride for the first time. You want to take in all the details.

Monday Inspiration: Pinterest for our Diaper Shower

As of Aug. 1st, I'm officially on photo-maternity leave. I've decided since it's Monday, I want to revisit the Monday inspiration posts (like this and this) that I started a while back. I didn't do many, but my inspiration posts really touch on the personal posts I resolved to do at the beginning of this year.

Today marks the 36th week of my second pregnancy. Our girl is full grown and could come any day, but my due date is September 7th. I'm still working from home just not shooting sessions and weddings until October.

As I say that, I had my camera around my neck this weekend as we celebrated our new baby with a diaper shower. I snapped a few photos of the festivities, mingled then snapped a few more. It was fun.

The inspiration for the Diaper "Shower" came from Pinterest of course. There were two photos in particular that spun the whole theme.

Here's a few of the shots from the day.

Saengerrunde Hall Austin Wedding: Erin + James

When Erin married James, the day started out fun when Gabby and I came across a wonderful blue wall for the couple's first look. You know the day's going to be a good one when the wedding gods suprise you with a tattered wall like this one. After capturing our portraits, the wedding party headed to the rooftop of the Saengerrunde Hall for group portraits. Was it scorching hot? yes. Was the geometric wall worth being outside for? absolutely.

Inside the hall there's classic feel, but the retro bowling alley that's attached reminds us that this downtown Austin venues is like no other. Erin and James exchanged their vows in front stringed lights then the wedding party opened the bowling alley for their guest. Maudie's catered this taco affair while the couple included their own brewed beer at the bar. The two things they wanted to represent at their wedding was their love for traveling (as seen in all the maps and globes), and their shared passion of locally brewed beer. We even shot their engagement session at Craft Pride

My absolute favorite detail was the map flowers added in the bouquets and table centerpieces...
hard to forget...easy to enjoy.
